Contributors

Nash Holos has been shaped over the years by a small group of contributors whose work became part of the program’s voice and character. This page introduces those creators and provides brief background on their roles in the show.

Pawlina

Pawlina is the producer and host of Nash Holos Ukrainian Roots Radio. She presents the program’s spoken-word content and music, and oversees its editorial direction as well as online distribution. She has been with the show since its first broadcast on June 4, 1990 in Vancouver, BC, co-hosting from 1990–96 and returning as its sole producer and host in 2000. In 2011 she introduced a second, live edition in Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Myra Junyk

Myra Junyk is the longtime reviewer behind the Knyzhka Corner book feature on Nash Holos. She highlights new and notable titles from Ukrainian and Ukrainian‑diaspora authors, bringing listeners informed, accessible commentary. Read full bio→.

Sylvia Molnar

Sylvia produced and presented the Ukrainian Food Flair series from its beginnings in the mid‑1990s until her retirement from the program in 2013. She passed away in 2015. Her recipes, cooking tips, and on‑air reminiscences were later compiled in the Ukrainian Food Flair cookbook, published in 2024 as a tribute to her memory. Read full bio→

David

David contributes occasional commentary on books he has discovered through the program and is a long‑time supporter of Nash Holos. Victor Sergeyev

Victor created the Victor’s Vignettes series, a collection of sharply observed reflections on life in Soviet and post‑Soviet Ukraine. Working from Mykolayiv, he collaborated remotely to produce a dozen vignettes that became a distinctive part of the program’s feature lineup. He continued contributing until his passing in 2019. Oksana Poberezhnyk

Oksana joined Nash Holos in 2016, contributing a short‑lived children’s series, co‑hosting the live Nanaimo edition, and conducting interviews in Ukrainian and later in English. She also hosted the Ukrainian‑language hour during the program’s two‑hour format. Although her on‑air involvement has tapered off in recent years, she remains connected to the show and contributes occasionally. Read full bio →
