Support Ukraine

Trusted organizations assisting Ukrainian civilians and defenders

This page features reputable organizations that provide practical, on‑the‑ground support to Ukrainians whose lives have been shattered by Russia’s invasion. This includes displaced families, wounded veterans, families of the fallen, war widows and mothers, children, and communities struggling with ongoing attacks. Each group listed here has a proven record of effective work, clear operations, and direct ties to the people they serve. Listeners who want to help can use this page to connect with trusted channels of support.

Ukraine War Amps is a Toronto-based volunteer-run non-profit provides practical assistance to wounded Ukrainian veterans and their families, the families of the fallen, and civilian defenders of Ukraine with financial aid for food, medications, rehab, and other needs, as well as personal outreach for moral and emotional support to ease symptoms of PTSD (depression, despair, loneliness, hopelessness). Today they are providing direct help to civilian defenders as well as Ukrainian Army soldiers with tactical gear, and basic necessities for them and their families.

Maple Hope Foundation is a Canadian volunteer‑driven organization providing medical supplies, rehabilitation support, and humanitarian assistance to Ukrainians affected by Russia’s invasion. Their work includes equipping hospitals, supporting wounded soldiers through recovery programs, and assisting displaced families in partnership with vetted organizations in Ukraine. The foundation maintains a strong Canadian‑Ukrainian volunteer base and emphasizes transparency and direct impact.

RememberUs.org is a US-based organization that documents the stories of Ukrainian children who have been abducted, displaced, or otherwise harmed by the war. The organization works with families, legal advocates, and international partners to support reunification efforts and to maintain public awareness of these cases. Their work includes collecting verified testimonies, tracking ongoing cases, and providing resources to families navigating the legal and humanitarian challenges of forced displacement.

HART (Humanitarian Aid Response Team) is a Calgary-based non-profit established in 1996 to effect change by assisting relief agencies working in Ukraine with resurging church communities. Since then HART has built a network of volunteers helping local churches to become self-sufficient community hubs. Today HART’s focus is on providing physical and spiritual support to endangered parishioners, volunteers and children in orphanages HART has established and been supporting in Ukraine.

Toonie Tuesday is a grassroots Canadian initiative that runs weekly campaigns raising funds for frontline Ukrainian defenders, combat medics, and others working directly at the front. Each week highlights a new, fully vetted beneficiary, and supporters are invited to contribute as little as a toonie (a $2 Canadian coin). The project’s consistent weekly rhythm keeps support flowing where it is most needed and provides an affordable way to help sustain steady support for those risking their lives on the front lines.

Caveat:

Please be careful where you send your money.

Since 2014, many solid, trustworthy groups have been doing real work on the ground in Ukraine — and they include the ones listed here.

Others have appeared only recently, however, with no history of helping Ukrainians in crisis. Also, credible reports from aid workers in the war zone indicate that some large international agencies, including (surprisingly and disappointingly) the International Red Cross, have in fact not been providing the promised and designated aid to Ukrainians in danger.

Make your own judgment, but choose with eyes open.

To find out more about the organizations we have recommended, look for interviews with representatives of each of them on the show and the Nash Holos podcast.
