Knyzhka (книжка) is the Ukrainian word for “book.”
Knyzhka Corner Book Reviews highlight books that matter to Ukrainians and the global Ukrainian community, as well as to anyone seeking a deeper understanding of Ukraine’s past and present.
The series was created to bring clarity, context, and informed commentary to a publishing landscape where high‑quality works on Ukrainian themes are often overlooked.
Knyzhka Corner features accessible, thoughtful reviews of titles on Ukrainian history, culture, identity, and current affairs — along with fiction and memoir that reflect the Ukrainian experience.
How books are selected
Many of the books featured on the program come from respected publishers, including the Harvard Ukrainian Research Institute (HURI), whose work brings high‑quality scholarship to a wider audience. Others come from independent presses, diaspora authors, and writers whose voices contribute meaningfully to the broader conversation about Ukraine.
