Update: October 8, 2025
Late last year, I was hit with a takedown notice by my podcast hosting platform where I had been archiving the shows for many years. Fortunately, I appealed and was given a reprieve. The feed was not taken down, but I was informed that going forward I am not allowed to post full shows featuring music.
The immediate result was, however, a halt to updating my RSS feed with new episodes, and the need to find a new home for them.
The end result is that the full episodes of Nash Holos will be posted on MixCloud, but only a few (~10) of the most recent episodes. Since the suspension, I’ve been experimenting with an efficient posting routine and have come up with this solution. The days of archiving the full episodes online are, unfortunately, over.
This is the result of the “grey areas” of intellectual property online becoming less grey and the laws more clear, if restrictive, particularly for smaller players. Nevertheless, there are still exciting opportunities to explore in the near future.
MixCloud is a streaming site and does not allow downloads. That means that MixCloud does not provide an RSS feed you can subscribe to, but if you follow me on MixCloud you will get email updates every time a new episode is uploaded. It’s free and it’s a neat community, so I hope you will..
This new situation means fairly dramatic changes for the podcast feed, so if you’re subscribed to the RSS feed, stay tuned! (If you’re not, you can find it on your favourite podcast app.) Since it is restricted to the spoken-word only, I’ll be posting the talk segments from the shows there. I’m still just trying to decide if I will keep just the one feed, or create separate ones for the different categories of spoken word—the interviews, book reviews, recipes, Ukrainian Jewish Heritage, etc. I’d sure welcome listener feedback on that so please leave a comment if you have any thoughts about that to share with me.
Another change you may have noticed it to this website itself. It’s getting a long-overdue facelift! It’s still a work in progress, but it should be all be completed by the end of October.
